Natural Bush Toilets!?

In his zest and zeal to promote and preserve our wonderful bush traditions in this country, Peter has taken it upon himself to create yet another exclusive Australian icon –

The Natural Bush Toilet!

(Hopefully, a small booklet on the subject will be published in the near future.)

No matter where he travels, whether on Rock Dhu or elsewhere, Peter cannot resist the lure of the hollow log or stump, the bole of a tree, the waterhole with a providential rock or log in just the right place – in fact, just about anything can become a “natural bush toilet” in Peter's vivid imagination!

Here are some photos of just a few, all aptly named of course!

The Decoy”

“Where's the chain?”

“The Septic”

Yes, we know - it HAS been pointed out that the pristine, white, glistening, porcelain toilet bowl and cistern probably don't really belong in the same class as the others. “The Decoy” came about when it was suggested to Peter that an extra toilet should be provided at “Norville” to cater for shearers, day visitors and campers, so that people staying in the cottage or cabins would not need to share these facilities. Of course, Peter took this to the extreme by simply placing the toilet in the middle of the “Norville” yard, in the open, with no privacy at all! As you could imagine, since its “erection”, “The Decoy” has been the subject of numerous photographs, and comments both written and verbal - some have praised the originality and artistic merit of “The Decoy”; others have made obviously unjustified lewd, crude remarks; while yet others simply remain mystified in relation to the “hole” thing.
(AND he left the SEAT UP of course!)

(We have Peter's assurance that, in time, “The Decoy” will become a fully enclosed, functional loo, with as much privacy as anyone could want.)
